Elie Wiesel is a Romanian-born Holocaust survivor, Nobel Peace Prize winner and author of more than 50 books.
He is best-known for his memoir, Night, which described his experiences as a prisoner at the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. The best-seller, which first appeared in Yiddish in 1955, has been translated into 30 languages and was chosen by Oprah Winfrey for her book club in 2006.
Wiesel won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. He lives in Boston where he is a professor of humanities at Boston University.
