Sana Krasikov wins $100,000 Sami Rohr Prize

The Jewish Book Council has announced this year's winner of the $100,000 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature.
Sana Krasikov won the award for her 2008 short story debut, “One More Year: Stories.”
According to the Jewish Book Council press release, Krasikov was selected “based on her demonstration of a fresh vision and evidence of future potential to further contribute to the Jewish literary community.”
Krasikov, pictured right, is graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop as well as a recipient of an O. Henry Award and a Fulbright Scholarship.
In addition to the $100,000 prize, the Jewish Book Council announced the winner of the 2009 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature Choice Award.
Dalia Sofer won a Choice Award for “The Septembers of Shiraz.” Sofer is an Iranian-American writer and I reviewed “The Septembers of Shiraz” back in the fall of 2007.

The presentation of the Sami Rohr Prize and the Choice Award will be held in May at a gala Awards Ceremony at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan.
