A few Shabbos reading links
These links aren't necessarily about Shabbos but I thought they'd make for some good reading material over the weekend. Enjoy.
• New fiction from Nathan Englander: the author writes his own family tree
• Israeli cinema has finally come into its own: The Nation's film critic, Stuart Klawans, tells us why in an essay on Nextbook.org.
• Speaking of Nextbook.org: The Jewish Journal's Tom Tugend says it's a personal embarrassment or the fault of the organization's “anti-promotional attitude,” that he had never heard of it. I wonder if he knows about Jewish Literary Review?
• Inspired by Jazz: Poet Steve Dalachinsky calls his work “a bunch of poems written by some old Jewish guy watching some black guy play jazz.”
• End of a Kafkaesque nightmare: Previously unseen documents, postcards, sketches and personal belongings of the Czech-Jewish writer may finally see the light of day after being hoarded for 40 years in a Tel Aviv flat by his executor's secretary.
