@ Lolo and Marc:
I am Egyptian-German, born in Old Cairo like you...but I am coming from another generation..may be it's not your same Cairo..but it's the same Cairo of my parents who born 1943. I have heared alot about it and I've lived in the other Cairo, which you didn't see. I lived as well in Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona and now in London. And believe me I miss this Old Cairo of you and my parents. I miss this cosmopolitan Cairo, in which Love and Tolerancewas eternal. Believe me your Book Lolo, and your words Marc made me cry and shed my tears. Thank you for remembering your country and try to visit it always , because it still your home.
Thanks Shokran

Dear Ms Lagnado,
Your book transported me not to Cairo. It carried out me to Argentine fifties where I shared my childhood with sepharadic jews from Northern Africa that we called with affection "turcos"......

Thank you so much for your book. Throughout its pages I undestood much better to my "Aristochratics" friends Matalon, Cicurel, Duek, Levy, Sevilla" so close to our feelings.

Thanks agains, your book was the hidden history of them that I complete right now.

Ms Lagnado,
I am more of your sister Suzette generation. Born in Sakakini in '43. The book brought back vivid memories of childhood and growing up, not dissimilar to yours, your siblings and your parents. I even went to the Lycee Francais' kindergarden. Reading your book made me relive those years, with their pain and their joy. I enjoyed your book very much. It will stay in my memory for many years to come. Thanks for having written it
