Man, it was big-time Jewish lit day in the New York Times Sunday Book Review.
Today’s section included the following:
• A review of Geraldine Brooks’ “People of the Book”
• An essay on the history of Elie Wiesel’s “Night”
• A review of Fred Wander’s “The Seventh Well” (See my review of this book also.)
• A review of Max Apple’s “The Jew of Home Depot: And Other Stories”
• An article about a new biography of author Louis Zukofsky
• A review by the Forward’s Alana Newhouse of Götz Aly’s “Into the Tunnel: The Brief Life of Marion Samuel”
• More tangentially, MOT Sigmund Freud plays a big part in a review of a book about the history of psychoanalysis.
And I was worried about finding books to review this year. Guess I better get out to the bookstore more often.
I used to think the NY Times was so self-conscious about not being viewed as a Jewish paper. It’s nice to see this worry does not extend to the Books section.
