The Association of Jewish Libraries announced the winners of the 2008 Sydney Taylor Book Awards this morning.
These awards are geared toward Jewish children's literature, something we don't get around to discussing much on Jewish Literary Review. But, with two rug rats at home, we'll certainly be looking at more and more children's literature in the coming years.
So, without further ado, here are the gold medal winners:
In the Younger Readers Category, the award went to Sarah Gershman and Kristina Swarner, author and illustrator of “The Bedtime Sh'ma: A Good Night Book”
In the Older Readers category, the award went to Sid Fleischman, author of “The Entertainer and the Dybbuk”
In the Teen Readers category, the award went to Sonia Levitin, author of “Strange Relations”
Mazal tov to all the winners.
The Association of Jewish Libraries will hand out the awards at their convention in Cleveland this June at a special ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the award.
