'It's never to late to learn Yiddish!'
Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman, the noted Yiddish poet, singer and songwriter, has a new book of verse out called, “Der tsvit fun teg” (The Blossoms of Days).
But, don't ask me where you can buy it online because I don't know. I searched for Ms. Schaechter-Gottesman's name on Amazon, Powell's and Barnes & Noble and came up empty each time. If anyone knows where to find it, shoot me an email.
Nevertheless, we'd like to note her new book. It's the ninth title for Schaechter-Gottesman, who also happens to be the first Yiddish poet to receive a National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship.
The Philadelphia Jewish Exponent recently caught up with Schaechter-Gottesman at an Elkins Park, Pa., event, where she told the crowd, “It's never too late to learn Yiddish!”
Now that would make a great New Years' resolution.
